She feels like she finally has her kid back.

A mother called us in near hysterics. She was desperate for help. Her 12-year-old son had become violent after she tried to take away his access to the computer.

He had been spending so much time online that he was even avoiding meals. Getting him to school had become a daily battle. Everything at home felt impossible to manage, and she was beside herself.

What made it even more painful was that this was once a sweet boy she knew so well. Now, she felt like she was looking at someone she no longer recognized.

When she reached out to us, we knew immediately that this could not be approached as simply “the child is the problem.” Family struggles are rarely that simple. There was much more happening beneath the surface, and the path to healing would need to involve the whole family.

She first connected with one of our youth counsellors, who listened carefully and introduced her to our parenting coach. Support was arranged right away. Soon after, her son began meeting with the youth counsellor as well.

Within just a few weeks, the family dynamic slowly began to change. Tension started to ease. Communication improved. Hope returned. She was deeply grateful to see things shifting in a new direction.

Now, six months later, she says something she once thought she might never be able to say again:

She feels like she has her kid back.
