CLINICAL TEAM SUPERVISOR/ADDICTION COUNSELLOR


 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Do you have extensive experience in addiction and mental health counselling and a track record of clinical leadership? As a Clinical Team Supervisor, you will be an integral part of our coordination team, contributing to the enhancement of the overall client experience, care, and outcomes. Your role extends beyond traditional coordination responsibilities, as you will actively engage in creative problem-solving to overcome obstacles that may impact optimal client well-being. In addition to your coordination duties, you will provide essential mental health and addiction counselling and support to individuals and families. This unique combination of skills and responsibilities positions you at the forefront of delivering comprehensive and compassionate care in our dynamic environment.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reporting to the Clinical Director

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $65,000 - 80,000 (commensurate with experience); private medical insurance package

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Team Supervisor

- Coordinate management and compliance of client files using our centralized database system

- Receive weekly reports from each counsellor on their client caseload, including urine tests and open speaker meeting attendance, as well as outstanding fees to be collected (i.e. cancellations), while overseeing the weekly clinical meeting minutes

- Oversee client wait list, maintain centralized staff schedules, and manage counsellors’ caseload, while ensuring that clients’ needs are met in a timely manner

- Provide ongoing support to staff regarding care issues that surface during service delivery

- Gather necessary information to initiate client services

- Help maintain best practices by receiving feedback from clients/families regarding service delivery and maintaining a continuous assessment of client satisfaction

- Coordinate referrals to and from community resources (CLSC, hospitals, rehab centers) and other relevant services

- Ensure that client service and data management complies with Lifeline policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, ethical standards, and client care, while consistently updating and upgrading these practices to meet our needs as they evolve

- Think creatively to solve problems standing in the way of optimal client experience, care, and outcomes

Addiction Counsellor

Provide psychosocial counseling, support and education around issues related to addiction and mental health issues.

  • Responsible for intakes and assessments, problem identification, treatment planning, recording progress notes, and developing discharge plans, review of continuing care plans.

  • Direct families to the appropriate resources, in-house as well as other resources in the community.

  • Liaise and contact with schools, hospitals, community organizations, 12-step community and other clinical referrals.

  • Provide individual, group and family counselling. 

  • Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines 

  • Utilize the Electronic Management Record system to document all client encounters in a timely fashion

  • Other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant field. A Certified Addiction Counselling degree is considered an asset. The candidate must have strong administrative skills, creativity, flexibility, and self-direction, as well as outstanding clinical and organizational experience, including experience working with people struggling with mental health and/or addiction problems, as well as working with a Family Systems approach. We are looking for someone who has a proven track record of leadership in clinical work. The candidate must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom.

ADDICTIONS COUNSELLOR

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Addiction Counsellor provides mental health and addiction counselling and support to individuals (youth & adults)  and families: 

  • Counsel clients both individually and within group sessions as appropriate

  • Create and modify individualized treatment strategies based on research, clinical knowledge, patient history and evaluations of progress while in counseling

  • Mediate and advocate for patients in the event that emergencies arise

 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $57,000 - $70,000 (commensurate with experience); private medical insurance package

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide psychosocial counseling, support and education around issues related to addiction: 

  • Responsible for intakes and assessments, problem identification, treatment planning, recording progress notes, and developing discharge plans, review of continuing care plans.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations and referrals.

  • Utilize the Electronic Management Record system to document all client encounters in a timely fashion

  • Other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: BSW (with a minimum 5 years of work experience and relevant certification or diploma) or MSW or MA. Excellent clinical and organizational experience is required, as well as creativity, flexibility, and self-direction. Shows strong initiative and independent judgment, has the ability to multitask, with proven critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as having the ability to work well in a team environment.

YOUTH COUNSELLOR

 

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Outpatient Addiction Centre – Chabad Lifeline is a non-sectarian organization dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by addiction. At Chabad Lifeline, individuals suffering from substance and behavioural addictions, and their family members, are guided by experienced and caring professionals through the process of healing and recovery.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $57,000-$70,000 per year; private medical insurance package

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Providing psychosocial counselling, support, and education to youth- at-risk on issues related to substance use, abuse, and addiction, as well as participating in continued development of the youth department. Youth-at-risk may present with behavioural or substance abuse or addiction issues, and/or may come from families affected by addiction. Counselling and support provided to youth is not limited to addiction, but can also address issues related to relationships, self-esteem, bullying, anger and stress management, etc.

 

Specific duties include:

  • Initial intake, screening and assessment of new clients

  • Ongoing psychosocial support and counselling for existing clients

  • Program development, including creation, implementation, and evaluation of programs for youth-at- risk

  • Outreach Program – Education / Prevention / Counselling

  • Liaison and contact with schools, hospitals, community organizations, 12-step community, other clinical referrals

  • Presentations in high schools

  • Direct activities in the high schools (psychoeducation, prevention strategies, skills streaming, individual therapeutic interventions, group presentations)

  • Other duties as required
