Find the kids: A family centered youth initiative

The Initiative
Over the years, we have identified a hidden group of victims in the addiction crisis: children and teens, as young as five and up to twenty, who are suffering in silence in homes affected by addiction or acute family dysfunction. These youth are often overlooked—not because they are unreachable, but because no one is actively looking for them.
Find the Kids was created to change that. By bringing this issue into the open through targeted outreach programs and powerful visual resources, we are able to reach the youth who would otherwise remain unseen. Find the Kids ensures that these young people are recognized, supported, and given access to the care they need—immediate, comprehensive, and provided at no cost—before their struggles deepen or repeat across generations.
How It Works: A Systematic Path To Healing
-
Initial Engagement: Once a child or youth is identified, they are welcomed into our program and introduced to a dedicated youth counsellor trained in multiple therapeutic approaches, including drama therapy, art therapy, and other specialized methods.
-
Parental Support: Each parent or caregiver is paired with a parent coach, who provides guidance, support, and practical strategies to help them understand and improve their role in the child’s life.
-
Family Sessions (“Four-Way”): The child, youth counsellor, parent, and parent coach meet together in structured family sessions. These sessions allow open communication, mutual understanding, and collaborative problem-solving.
-
Video Feedback: These family sessions are sometimes recorded to provide parents with insights into their interactions and to help them develop stronger, healthier parenting skills.
-
Comprehensive, Family-Centered Care: Throughout the process, the focus is on the entire family system, ensuring that every member’s needs are addressed in a cohesive and supportive way.
-
Ongoing Support: Both youth and parents receive continuous guidance from their counsellors and coaches, helping them navigate challenges and build lasting resilience.
