For over 20 years, Marla Eichenbaum promised us she’d come by and see what Chabad Lifeline was all about once she could “find the time” in her busy life as a corporate lawyer.

Then, in early 2026, she was at a place in her life where she was retired and looking to build her next meaningful chapter, “Marla 2.0.”

Marla came in, met the team, sat in on our weekly open meeting with counsellors and clients, and embraced all the volunteer roles we sent her way... from greeting people seeking help who arrived at our front door, to taking phone calls from men and women and family members needing crucial and immediate services, to writing informational materials and essentially doing whatever was needed. She often says, “I fell in love with this place and its purpose. Each and every person who works here touches me deeply, and the people who come through and get help—I’m witnessing things in front of me that are just so life-transformational. I just want to do more.”

Just recently, Marla joined our administrative team, and she is helping in ways that are valuable to us, doing all of this out of the passion she has for helping people and the confidence she has in the life-changing work that we are doing here.

We are grateful for Marla 2.0.!
