Everyone needs to eat and most people over-indulge on occasion. However, those who struggle with a food addiction are unable to control their compulsive eating behaviours. They often feel a "high" when eating and usually choose unhealthy foods.

Defining food addiction

People addicted to food may develop a food tolerance, requiring more and more food to achieve the "high" they seek.

Food addictions are emotionally, physically and socially detrimental being that they cause intense feelings of guilt, health problems, and can interfere with relationships.

Chabad Lifeline helps anyone affected by eating disorders, offering one on one support as well as group therapy for both the addict and anyone affected by the addiction. Overeaters Anonymous meetings  take place at our centre on a weekly basis.
