Tobacco is highly addictive and one of the most commonly abused substances in the world. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death, causing nearly six million deaths annually, and 1,300 fatalities per day in the United States alone.

The primary addictive chemical in tobacco is nicotine, which triggers an increase in dopamine (what cause the brain to feel "happiness") and a rush of adrenaline.

Tobacco is legal and can be consumed publicly, and therefore addiction to tobacco is harder to hide. Its effects can harm almost every organ in the body.

Chabad Lifeline helps anyone affected by prescription drug addiction, offering one on one support as well as group therapy for both the addict and anyone affected by the user.
